CFF Parent Letter - Grade 4; February 2010

February 10, 2010

Dear Fourth Grade Parents,

February is upon us already! It is hard to believe that next week we celebrate Ash Wednesday and begin our Season of Lent. As this Holy Season becomes part of our lives, we are reminded that our CFF sessions are drawing to a close. Allow me to take this opportunity to let you know what your child's remaining sessions will cover.

            February 17, 2010 - Ash Wednesday Service at 6:30 p.m. in Church

All families are to attend Ash Wednesday Mass. There will be NO CFF classes on this night.

            February 23 & 24, 2010 - 'Together in Faith' Event:

"The Magnificent Seven: Anointing of the Sick" from 5:30 - 7:45 p.m. at the Church

All families are to attend the 'Together in Faith' Event on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Please turn in your registration form that you received in the mail. There is no fee for CFF families.

March 3, 2010 - Chapter 22: God Shares His Life With Us & the Season of Lent

During this session, the children will learn and discuss how God shares his grace - God's gift of our sharing in the life of the Holy Trinity - his life with us now and eternal life in heaven. They will discuss how we show that we want God to be with us always by the way we live our lives. The children will also spend part of the class time discussing the Season of Lent. They will talk about how Lent gives us the opportunity to pray, fast and give alms as we grow closer to Jesus.

            March 10, 2010 - Chapter 7: The Holy Spirit: A Scripture Story & Pentecost

This chapter will help the children discover how the Holy Spirit helps us know and love God. It will help make the connection of the Holy Spirit as the promise Jesus made to his disciples at the Last Supper. The children will discuss how the Holy Spirit helped Jesus' disciples and how the Holy Spirit helps us today.

March 17, 2010 - Chapter 13: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector: A Scripture Story & Lent

This session will focus on God's love and forgiveness. Chapter 13 shows us that Jesus used stories to help teach us how to live. In the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, Jesus teaches about God's love and forgiveness. The Fifth Week of Lent section reinforces the message that God always forgives us when we are sorry; he welcomes us back and rejoices with us when we turn to him.

March 24, 2010 - Lenten Reconciliation Service at 6:30 p.m. in Church

Parents and children in grades 2 - 11 are encouraged to attend the Lenten Reconciliation Service at Church. There will be NO CFF classes held.

March 31, 2010 - Holy Week and the Triduum

This special season lesson will help the children learn what happens on Palm Sunday and the Easter Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter). They will discuss what we will see and how we worship during the holiest days of the year. And they will have the opportunity to learn about and meditate on the devotion - The Stations of the Cross using a video.

            April 7, 2010 - Easter Break

There will be no CFF classes this week.

            April 13 & 14, 2010 - 'Together in Faith' Event: "The Magnificent Seven -

The Sacraments of Service: Holy Orders and Matrimony" from 5:30 - 7:45 p.m. at Church

All families are to attend the 'Together in Faith' Event on Tuesday or Wednesday evening. There is no charge for CFF families attending any 'Together in Faith' event.

This will be our last CFF session for the 2009 - 2010 school year.

In addition to the above lessons, we will be reviewing with the children, their grade level prayers during the month of March. We would welcome any parents or grandparents, as well as high school students, to help us with this task. Please contact me through the CFF office at 468-5718 if you are interested.

Thank you for all your support throughout the year!

Sincerely,
